About Me
Up until about 5 or so years ago, no one really knew I wrote. Up until about 5 years ago, I'd forgotten about my love of plotting the lives of characters, manipulating them to do as I wished, throwing them into situations I'd never in my life want to be in, tearing them apart, forcing them together... Bwahahahahaha *ahem* Sorry, I got a little carried away. I don't know why I'd fought it so hard for so long.
I wrote like a mad woman in high school. Every day would be some new thought about who my characters were, what I wanted them to do, how they were to meet, what tore them apart, how to bring them back together... But, then shortly after graduation I began thinking it was all just silly stories. So, I put it all away.
Fast forward about twelve years; after marrying the love of my life and having two rambunctious, loveable kids and settling into our beautiful home... I'd taken up running on a treadmill. You can imagine how exciting that can be, some of you are probably painfully aware. You've been there, staring at the plain, white painted wall. Trying hard to imagine that the fan blowing in your face is actually the breeze in your hair. If you imagine hard enough you can feel the sun on your skin, the birds chirping and the barking of neighbors dogs as you run by. It was on a day just like this, while listening to Maroon 5 and Paramore from my i-pod when suddenly, I had an idea. I had a character surface and beg for me to write her story. I told my husband I wanted to start writing again and he's been supporting my dream ever since.
I've had rough patches, who hasn't? There have been days where I wonder if I'll ever get it done. Times where I've scrapped multiple pages and almost wanted to give up because I made myself start all over from page one after writing myself into a block wall. But, the characters wouldn't let that happen. They screamed at me until I started over and they were right. The story may have changed, but the players have all stayed the same. If all goes as planned I should be able to wrap up my first book by the end of the year. That is my goal.
Join me on my journey. I'd love to have you along for the ride. You can find me quite frequently on Twitter or Facebook. I like to play with short stories; some are finished, some are not. Just depends on what the characters say because I tend to listen to them. ;-)
